Starhawk is also noted in political activism for her long-standing commitment to various leftist causes, notably: against nuclear power; in support of the people of El Salvador and Nicaragua; environmentalism; women’s rights; and various pro-peace and anti-war movements, including current issues in Iraq and the Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
Starhawk is probably best known in Neopaganism for introducing legions of people to Goddess religion, feminist Wicca, and self-initiation, thus bringing a more egalitarian face to Wicca. She has also done much to promote the idea that Pagan beliefs and ideals should manifest in action in the real world.
