Hermetic magick organization founded by Aleister Crowley in 1906, after the disintegration of the Golden Dawn. The initials are generally held to either stand for Argenteum Astrum (“[Order] of the Silver Star”) or “you decide what it stands for,” thought the latter seems to be a more modern interpretation, and possibly to post-date the publication of the Illuminatus! Trilogy entirely.
Surprisingly, this group doesn’t seem to have been overtly Thelemic. However, it also doesn’t seem to have done all that much. Perhaps Crowley was simply too busy with the O.T.O. after 1910, or maybe everything the A∴A∴ did was actually kept secret?
The A∴A∴ is also one of the organizations known for using three dots in their abbreviation.
