Ceremonial magick ritual designed to clear an area of unwanted elemental influences, invariably performed at the beginning of any working, and generally followed up immediately with the Banishing Ritual of the Hexagram. The Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram is often known by its initials: LBRP.
The ritual starts with the Qabalistic Cross, a declaration of the magician’s oneness with the macrocosmic universe phrased in Hebrew, but translating as “Thine [God] are the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever, amen.” It continues by drawing a sequence of pentagrams at each of the cardinal points, connecting them with a circular line of energy, in a fashion that would be recognized by most Pagans as a circle-casting, aside from the chanting of Hebrew god-names. Four archangels are then invoked, and the Qabalistic Cross is performed again to complete the ritual. A great many versions of instructions on this ritual can be found on the Web. It’s very well known, even among Wiccans, to the point that you can find many humorous versions around, such as the Lesser Elvis Banishing Ritual of the Sequined Pentagram and the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Casserole.
Additionally, consider an interesting analysis of the LBRP, with suggested corrections. Notes for a Paganized version by Paul Hume are also available and quite interesting.
