Thelemite

A follower of Aleister Crowley, and/or his Law of Thelema. (It’s sometimes difficult to tell exactly which of these a given Thelemite is more interested in following.) This term can also be used to describe a member of a Thelemic organization, such as any of the various O.T.O.s.

“Crowleyan” and “Crowleyite” are occasionally used by outsiders, sometimes as deliberately derogatory terms, more often from simple lack of knowledge of the word “thelema” and its related concepts. Thelemites don’t tend to take umbrage at such terms.

Due to the common misunderstandings about the true meaning of the Law of Thelema, Thelemites have gained a reputation in the occult community for being self-centered and inconsiderate. Due to their propensity for following Crowley’s example a bit too closely, they’ve also gained a reputation for frequenly being immature and sexist. This doubtless pains the few Thelemites who don’t display these characteristics.

Thelemites usually wear the unicursal hexagram as a symbol of their belief.
